Champions at Autumn Dance Classic

U & Me Instructors Nathan Simler and Lecie McNees competed this past weekend in San Francisco at the Autumn Dance Classic http://www.autumndanceclassic.com

They won the Professional Rising Star Smooth Championship! This was a closely contested event and a great win for Nate and Lecie! They also placed 2nd in the Professional Rising Star Rhythm, 3rd in the Open Professional Smooth and 5th in the Open Professional Rhythm. Another great competition for our resident pros!

DVIDA National Championships:
Susan & Sheila Rock!

October 17th-18th U & Me Dance students Susan Haynes and Sheila McCorry competed at the 2nd National DVIDA Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. These two ladies had great results:

Sheila took 3 firsts and 6 seconds, including 2nd place in the Closed Bronze American Smooth Scholarship! Sheila’s favorite part of the competition were the enthusiastic spectators and getting to know the other competitors from places like Alberta, CA and New Hampshire.

Susan took 18 firsts and one second, including 1st place in the Silver Smooth and Rhythm Scholarships. Susan is also now the DVIDA National Pro-Am 6 Dance Champion. Her favorite part of this competition was having the judges get to know her and the knowledge that others are enjoying watching her and Nathan dance!

Congratulations U & Me Dancers!

Nathan and Lecie are United States Professional 9 Dance Finalists!

U & Me Dance Instructors Nathan Simler and Lecie McNees competed at the United States National Dancesport Championships in Orlando, FL. This competition is open to US and World competitors. Nathan and Lecie competed in 9 Dance, which means they dance all the competitive American Style dances -- Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo for the Rhythm Section and Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz for the Smooth Section. Upcoming Competitions - Where to Next?

This November, Nathan and Lecie attended the Ohio Star Ball for the first time. This is the largest dance competition in the country, and is featured by PBS in a special called “America’s Ballroom Challenge” which will air February 25th as a 2 hour special. Nathan and Lecie placed in the quarterfinal for the Open Professional Rhythm and the Semi-Final for the Rising Star Rhythm. There were many top competitors at this event. The competition in the Open Rhythm was heated with over 30 couples! Congratulations to Nate and Lecie on a fine result!- http://ohiostarball.com/

Their last competition in 2008 was another big one, The Holiday Dance Classic, held in sunny Las Vegas, NV. This is one of the top 5 competitions in the country! http://www.holidaydanceclassic.com

Nathan and Lecie had an excellent result as Professional Rising Star Rhythm Finalists. This was out of a Semi-Final, and we are very happy for their result. They also made it to the Semi-Final in the Open Professional Rhythm, which is fantastic considering that 4 couples out of the Top 6 in the nation were in attendance. An awesome way for our resident pros to end the year!

The first competition of 2009 will be the City Lights Ball in San Jose, CA. http://citylightsball.com Nathan and Lecie will be competing in Open Professional Rhythm and Smooth, and the Professional Show Dance Category. Nathan will also be competing Pro/Am with student Susan Haynes. Please wish all of them well in this first competition of the New Year!
